Group Capoeira Brasil can be found in many countries around the world.  It was founded by Mestres Boneco, Sabia and Paulao in January 1989.  Group Capoeira Brasil is currently one of Brasil's and the world's largest and best recognised schools.

In 1994, Andre Cerutti (Mestre Peixe), started Group Capoeira Brasil in Australia. 

Mestre Peixe has contributed much to the standard of Capoeira in Australia and has introduced an exciting and up to date approach on teaching capoeira to the Australian Community. 

Our Senior Instructor - "Uakari"

As a result of his guidance and continued supervision, Capoeira has continued to grow and flourish here in Townsville, under the instruction of Matthew Eales, also known as "Instructor Uakari".

Matthew is a qualified capoeira instructor, receiving his senior instructor cord in 2006 and has been teaching Capoeira classes in Townsville since 2001.  He has conducted countless capoeira workshops for local schools and community groups throughout Townsville as well as performing with his group at various local events, night clubs, functions and parties.

He has also participated in international and national workshops in the role of student and as an instructor.  He has had the pleasure of meeting and being taught by Mestres including:  Mestres Boneco, Paulinho Sabia, Toni Vargas, Itapoan, Girino, Currumim, Espiga, Bola Sete, Mao Branca and Suassuna in Brazil and in Australia.

Our Other Instructors

Our other Townsville Senior Instructors include Heidi Eales "Instructor Jambo" and Alex Anderson "Instructor Complicado", who have been training under Instructor Uakari since 2001.  Both Jambo and Complicado received their senior instructor cords in 2008.  Both instructors have also traveled to Brazil to participate in workshops and regularly travel to Sydney to participate in the annual international workshops hosted by Mestre Peixe.
